Survivors Of Human Trafficing In Scotland (SOHTIS) is a charity that aims to eliminate human trafficing in Scotland and provide support for survivors. Their mission is to further raise awareness and work with partners to support survivors.
Brief: As part of a team consisting of memebers from different courses, Work with a charity to design a re-branding for them.
My Role: I was the only product designer on my team and my core aim was to help raise awareness of the charity. Working with graphic designers and public relation students was beneficial in learning new skills from them and everyone bringing their strengths to the group.
Solutions
Spoon: From meetings with the client we found that soup kitchens are where many survivors of human trafficking seek food and warmth. Due to survivors not always able to speak out or seek help. My design solution was a reusable spoon that would be given out at the soup kitchens. Then people who need help will always have a number and a small logo to help them.
Charity Box: One core way awareness is spread of SOHTIS is through tea afternoons. This is when everyone takes their turn hosting a event where they can raise money and hand out leaflets. My solution to this is a interactive charity box, where hosts will physically pass the box onto the next host with the handles. Always aiming to spread awareness.
Water Bottle: Working with my team member from a public relations background. We identified the kilt walk event as a helpful way to raise money and spread awareness. The design for this was a bottle inspired by the shape of a kilt. That could be handed out at the event.
